Based on a true story and Back to the Wild by Christopher McCandless.

In 1990, Christopher McCandless sets out on a journey, just months after graduating from university. He donates his trust fund to Oxfam, abandons his car, and begins a cross-country odyssey that ultimately leads him to Alaska. He heads into the wilderness hoping to survive alone and live off the land – but becomes trapped in the wild. This new folk-rock musical, based on the true story that became a National bestseller and a feature film, pays tribute to McCandless’ complicated but ultimately transcendent story.  His admirable quest for truth, understanding and purpose in life speaks to the restless spirit in all of us.

Eight teenagers set out on an outdoor wilderness adventure in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. When their guide mysteriously disappears and the FBI shows up looking for him, these diverse and seemingly incompatible characters struggle to overcome their biases and personal differences as they embark on a journey of survival and self-discovery. An earthy and passionate score holds them together as they discover their true purpose for being in the wild.
